Avanti lifts produced according to new EU requirements

Avanti Wind Systems achieved compliance several months ago with the new Machine Directive  - 2006/42/EC - for its production of lifts for wind turbine towers. The new directive came into force in the EU on 29 December 2009.

Research and Development is conducted in close consultation with customers to ensure that their requirements for Avanti lifts are combined with those of the new Machine Directive – and which of course have to be met.

The directive's requirements also apply to lifts supplied and installed in 2009, but which will not be put into use before the finished turbine towers are handed over to their owners. Most of these lifts will have been subject to a previous specification.

Avanti has produced upgrade kits which can be fitted by the owners or by Avanti, to ensure that their lifts will meet the new EU requirements.
