Technicians trained in Uruguay

The team of technicians that will work in and with wind turbine towers at two wind farms in Uruguay has just taken Avanti Wind Systems’ 16-hour course in rescue training and the course in the use of Avanti Service Lifts.

The wind farms concerned are Caracoles I and II, which were erected on a hilltop in Carro de los Caracoles close to the coast in the otherwise flat Uruguayan landscape. Five Vestas 2 MW wind turbines are installed on each of the two areas. Uruguay only has very few wind turbines but a further 20 wind farms are planned for the forthcoming years, all operated by the state-owned electricity company UTE.

The towers in Caracoles are 67 metres in height and equipped with Avanti Service Lifts, Avanti ladders and the Avanti Fall Protection System.
