The second largest wind farm in Central America starts up in Honduras

A new wind farm in Honduras will be the second largest wind farm in Central America and one of the biggest wind farms in the whole of Latin America. The farm in Cerro de Hula, 20 km south of Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras, will have 51 Gamesa G87 turbine towers and a total production of 102 MW. The farm will supply power to the National Electricity Company (ENEE).

The farm will start generation power in a few months and will be fully operational in December.

The 51 Gamesa turbine towers will have Avanti Wind Systems Shark L UL Service Lifts/Work Gages installed. They are supplied from Avanti Wind Systems in the US. They will be installed and tested this summer by technicians from Avanti Wind Systems in Spain, who also will train the local technicians.
