33 Greek wind turbine engineers trained by Avanti
Avanti Wind Systems has just conducted a training course for 33 wind turbine engineers from the Greek energy company, Terna
Energy S.A. The courses were held in Terna Energy's wind turbine towers in Alexandroupolis and Louzes.
The Greek engineers were trained in work environment-related first aid, fall safety and rescue and evacuation from wind
turbine towers. Training also covered the use of service lifts. Terna Energy's wind turbine towers are equipped with both
service lifts and fall safety systems from Avanti Wind Systems.
In all, 9 courses were held, under the direction of Avanti's
instructor, Ole Vestergaard. The courses were partly theoretical - but in particular involved training in the towers.
The safety of engineers in wind turbine towers has always been the top priority of Avanti Wind Systems. Consequently,
Avanti has a comprehensive programme of courses. Avanti offers safety courses all over the world and in several languages,
including English, Spanish, German, Chinese and Danish.
On the courses, the engineers who will be working in wind turbine towers learn all the necessary techniques for moving
up and down the towers safely. In addition, there is a comprehensive first-aid course and practical exercises in rescuing
injured persons from the top of the tower and the safe evacuation of everyone from the tower in the case of, for example,
fires.
