Avanti in 23 new turbine towers in Chile

Chile's president, Michelle Bachelet, has just officially opened the Totoral wind farm, near Canela, approx. 300 kilometres north of Santiago.

The farm consists of 23 Vestas 125 metre-high 2 MW turbine towers with a capacity of 46 MW, and will supply 50,000 homes with energy. The 23 turbine towers are equipped with Avanti Service Lifts, ladders and Fall Protection Systems.

The farm is owned by SN Power, a joint venture between Norway's Statskraft (60%) and Nordfund.

The spread of wind power in Chile is rapid, with capacity of almost 170 MW now installed compared to just 2 Mw in 2006.
