Avanti Service Lift - a Safe Investment
As wind turbines get higher and higher, the demand for the safety of employees working daily in the nacelle or the tower of the wind turbine also gets higher. The owners of 12.000 wind turbines have come to realize that the Avanti Service Lift is a good investment in the safety of their employees.
Experience shows that service technicians perform better quality service when they are transported in a lift as opposed to when they have to climb 60-100m up the wind turbine using a ladder.
A further advantage of using the Avanti Service Lift is that it can be taken into use already during the construction and commissioning period. Thus, the turbine owner can soon get a return on the investment. The Avanti Service Lift is mountable in all wind turbine towers.
Design
The Avanti Service Lift is guided on wires
Ascent and descent: takes place by means of a hold/go pressure system with dead-man control placed on a panel in the lift. The lift motor and electric installation is placed at the back of the lift and the motor is easy to operate in case of an emergency. The power supply is facilitated via the electric cable, which is mounted in a strain relief hose under the lift and automatically coils up in a container, when the lift descends.
Thus, when the lift is not operating, wear on the electrical cable due to vibrations an oscillation of the mill is avoided. At the top of the tower you will find a suspension beam, which carries the motor wire, the safety wire and two thick guide wires of the lift. The guide wires are mounted in the basement of the tower and tightened with rigging screws.
The lift operates independently of the safety ladder. The lift is guided through the platform openings with a flexible wire guide system. In the case of power failure the lift is taken down manually.
The cabin: Closed and spacious. Produced from a self-supporting aluminium sheet structure to allow maximum space for transportation of people and tools. Roof with top sliding door. Smart design. The lift is available in all colours and with personalized logo.
Material: Aluminium, seawater resistant.
SAFETY
The Avanti Service Lift features a unique door system
Different types of Avanti Service Lifts are available: Available with 2 or 4 doors. Also available with 2 folding doors.
Unique door system:
1. Door placed 1.10m above floor level. Opens at any position without falling hazard for persons
operating the lift. Note the service lift will stop immediately when the door is opened.
2. The lower door remains closed at any position through out the tower. A special model however allows the lower door to open at the platforms provided normal power supply to the lift is available.
All Avanti Service Lifts feature as standard a compulsory 10cm toeboard measured from floor height to avoid unintentional falling of items from the tower.
Motor: Is placed on the back of the cabin. Also available with the motor mounted on top of the cabin - the slim type.
Noise level: 72 dB (A) at start. Drops to 70 dB (A) when in operation. The noise is not disturbing.
Guardrail: The design of the tower includes a 1.10m tall guardrail. It resembles a balcony rail. It is equipped with a horizontal knee high rail, which is used as a ladder when entering the lift. Made from galvanized steel or aluminium.
